Education and training

Dr. Awad earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology, University of Michigan before completing her Doctor of Dental Surgery, University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry. Her academic record there was recognised with the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Award (three consecutive years) and the American Academy of Orofacial Pain Award — the latter reflecting an early interest in orofacial pain, which is directly relevant to patients whose dental fear is rooted in pain they were told they should not be feeling.

She went on to earn a Fellowship in surgical and prosthetic implants, Resnik Institute, and maintains membership of the Spear Study Club, a group of dentists focused on advanced diagnosis and comprehensive treatment planning.

Areas of focus

Alongside sedation and the care of anxious patients, Dr. Awad has developed particular experience in dental implants, clear aligner orthodontics and cosmetic dentistry.
